AK-II Loop-pile Tufting Machine

Left at its factory setting, the AK-II will produce the shortest loop-pile possible. If you wish to create longer loop-piles, you’ll need to adjust the screw that holds the needle in position. 

You’ll need: 

• A Phillips-head screwdriver

Step 1: Locate the needle screw (Phillips head) on the underside of the machine, accessible when the belted gear is fully retracted. 

Step 2: Loosen the screw, then slide forward (or backward) in the needle screw channel until the needle reaches the desired position. Set in factory position, the screw is as far from the front of the machine (needle point) as possible. By moving the screw forward in the channel, you’ll create a longer loop pile. 

Step 3: Check the position of the hooked cloth pusher, just below the needle and between the foot. The distance between the foot and the cloth pusher should be about ¼ inch. If the cloth guard extends out too far, it will catch on your fabric. Adjust the cloth pusher using the same Phillips head screw. Loosen the screw again, hold the cloth pusher in place, and tighten again at the desired pile height location.
